Selling a product that the customer does not need is a bad deal for everyone. Here is when roaming is fine, and when a travel eSIM is the better choice.
When roaming is enough
Inside the EU and EEA, European plans roam like at home. Many recent French travel-friendly plans also include tens of gigabytes in popular destinations such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Turkey.
When a travel eSIM is better
- Older or entry-level plans with little or no data abroad.
- Destinations most home plans leave out, such as Kenya or Sri Lanka.
- Travellers from countries whose operators charge high roaming fees.
- Long stays, where a home plan’s roaming allowance runs out.
- Companies that want a known cost per trip instead of a roaming bill.
What we recommend to partners
Ask the traveller about their plan and destination, and offer the eSIM where it actually helps. Customers remember who told them the truth.
